My name is Micaela Tomat and I am 19 years old.
I was born in Abancay (Perù) on 30th May 1985.
I’ve been adopted from an Italian family when I was only 8 months. I live in Verbania with my mother and my sister, she is adopted too. Verbania is a small city near Lake Maggiore in the north of Italy.
At present I go to school and this is my last year. I study English, German and French. I like very much German even if I cannot speak very well this language because it is not so easy for me.
I like very much staying with children, in fact during these years I attend a group of “scouts”: every Sunday I pass my time with children from 8 to 11 years old because I am one of the responsible who stay, play with children and take care of them.
This is a kind of volunteer work which I like very much. It was one of the most important experience that I have ever had in my life.
I like staying with other people and in particular with children because they make me feel better when I stay with them.
Three years ago, during the school year, I went to Germany (near Frankfurt) with my class and I lived in a host family for a week.
In summer 2002 I lived in Germany for two weeks, and I stayed in a family who lives near Stoccarda. It was a very good experience and I had the possibility to improve my German.
Last summer, in June, I had a stage in Germany (near Konstanz), and I worked in a pedagogic museum for one month.
I was for the first time in contact with the world work. It was very interesting. My tasks during this work were to help cleaning and preparing the rooms before the children arrived.
I think it was an experience that I will not forget.
I wish to make this other experience of volunteer work because I would like to work in the field of volunteering and also to improve the knowledge of a language I already know; besides all this, I think that it will be a beautiful experience.
The idea of working with young people who come from other countries enthusiasm me very much.
Furthermore I hope that this experience will make me more skilled for my future jobs.
I hope to make the job that will be offered me in the best way I can.
I like very much staying with people even if at the beginning I am a bit shy.
So I think that a new job experience will be stimulating for my character.
